W: Means of Grace

MEANS OF GRACE WINDOW

This window has Jesus’ cross superimposed on it.  That work that Jesus did for us comes to us through the Means of Grace: The Lord’s Supper, Baptism, the Word.

The Lord’s Supper is pictured in the top half of the circle.  The left side shows the grapes and the wine in which we also receive Jesus’ true blood.  The right side shows the wheat and the bread in which we also receive Jesus’ true body.

The lower left hand side shows baptism.  The shell has been the picture the Christian Church has used for centuries to show the water of baptism and its application.  Notice the three drops of water…Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  This is the way the water is applied in baptism when the water is sprinkled our poured.  The Holy Spirit is symbolized in the dove.  This Dove was present at Jesus’ baptism and is also present at ours.  (He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior…Titus 3:5)
The lower right hand side shows the Word.  It is truly a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

The means of Grace—that way through which we are saved—is truly the focus of our worship and praise.  It holds the focal point of our worship service and our church.
